Culling
Since up to 90% of collected electronic data can be non-responsive, it is important to make use of LLM’s culling and search capabilities to whittle down the total file population. We can easily help you reduce the total data population for review through several means.
LLM can filter documents by embedded file type, by file extension, and/or by date range. Discovery data can also be filtered-in or filtered-out using search terms. The standard Boolean methods of searching are supported, including stemming, wildcard and “fuzzy” searches. LLM also uses the hash lists from NIST to identify commonly-used operating system and application files. This can result in a significant percentage of raw files being filtered out prior to processing.
Additionally, documents can be deduplicated. This can be done strictly based on the MD5 hash value or we can include other criteria as well. For emails, hash values can be calculated on a flexible variety of fields (from, subject, date, body, etc). LLM can also do bit-by-bit comparison of files flagged as duplicates to ensure that two different files are not erroneously identified as duplicates. Native File Processing, including Unicode
We have a great deal of experience in processing cases of all sizes. LLM can process hundreds of different types of native files, including entire e-mail accounts, such as Outlook, Lotus Notes and GroupWise, all done using the native application. Near Duplicates
Near duplicates can make up 30 to 50% of email and documents in a given set. Grouping near duplicates can help significantly to optimize the document review process. We make use of Equivio’s industry leading technology for near-duplicate analysis. Adding this step, in addition to traditional MD5 hash deduplication methods can significantly reduce document population prior to review. Additionally, the near duplicate information can be used in Liquid Lit Manager™, where users can view near duplicates together, keep near duplicate documents together in review sets, and apply tags to a set of near duplicates in one step. Coding

Hosting
LLM uses High-Grade RC4, 128-bit Secure Sockets Layer encryption for all access to Liquid Lit Manager™. Its servers and network are used exclusively for Liquid Lit Manager™. All servers are protected by dedicated, managed hardware firewalling and are verified to have the latest security updates several times a day. In addition to these measures, we use industry-leading assessment software to regularly verify that our systems are safe from vulnerabilities.
User authentication is by login and password. Each matter (case) is self-contained in its own discrete database, so there is no sharing of matter data within a database. The system has two types of security: task-based and document-based. Task-based security limits what a user can do or see in the system. For example, a user may be granted or denied permission to access various Discovery and/or Production features. For document-security, users can be granted or denied access on a document-by-document basis or on a category basis. All user activities, document views, system navigation, etc. are logged.
