Top 5 Security Questions to Ask When Moving to the Cloud

In a recent survey, 80% of corporate attorneys reported that security was their biggest concern about using cloud-based services.*

As we all know, there are so many benefits to using software-as-a-service (SaaS) such as lower overhead cost and access from anywhere, but you can’t take advantage of these benefits if you’re worried about data security. The cloud can even be more secure than the servers sitting in your office, but to make sure, you need to do your due diligence first. Here are five security-related questions to help you make well-informed and safe decisions when making the move to the cloud.

5. If the SaaS application does not include the entire litigation lifecycle, is your data easily portable to another cloud
or application?

4. Does your SaaS provider meet your corporation’s compliance, integrity and confidentiality needs?

3. Who has access to the hosting facility where the servers are housed?

2. To what extent is your data encrypted during an online session as well as when in storage?

1. What redundancy, backup and disaster recovery plans does the provider have in place for both the data as well as the physical location of servers?
